The greater community has shown its support through individual contributions and many other ways:
  • Local area artists held a raffle at a weekend Art Sale in November 2010
  • 10 year old Jessica wrote an article in her school newsletter
  • Indian Head Farm sponsored a Historic Magic Show and collected donations to the project in April 2012
  • An open house held after the Berlin Bicentennial Parade drew 200 people in June 2012
  • The Berlin Art and Historical Society held a talk and tour at their annual meeting in June 2013
  • The Clinton Item and Worcester Telegram have run 12 articles about the project
  • Partnered with Berlin Art & Historical Society in October 2013, 2014 &2015 for community Pumpkin Fling event at Indian Head Farm.

How We Got Started

For years the vacant “Old Methodist Church” captured the imagination of people living in and around Berlin. Many ideas were floated about, but it wasn’t until the revitalization of the 1870 Town Hall across the common that a vision for how this building could be used became clear.

With hundreds of events taking place every year, the restored 1870 Town Hall fulfills a community need for a public space for events such as concerts, dances, theater as well as space that can be rented for private parties. What was missing was a place to visit before and after these events, a place for seniors to gather during the day to visit, a place for teens to meet and do homework projects, a place for enjoying art and music.


​We spoke with the owners of the “Old Methodist Church” about restoring it with this vision in mind and they generously agreed to give us time explore its feasibility. In 2008 we formed a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and during the following two years we looked carefully at the many aspects of making this dream a reality. We met with building professionals, with town officials and with potential donors. 


In 2011 we purchased the building and began renovation work. Since then we have involved over 81 Business Partners who have generously contributed grant money or professional services and materials.

Patent attorney, with a science background, employed by Cabot Corporation; committed to the revitalization of Berlin’s town center; owner of one of Berlin’s oldest homes.​

President, Berlin’s Art and Historical Society; appointed member of the Berlin Historical Commission; retired Title Examiner.

Judy Booman- Director
Has held multiple positions in Town of Berlin government/committees as a volunteer, appointed member and elected official. Currently Chairman of Berlin Board of Selectmen and an active member of Berlin Energy Committee. Former Corporate Software Trainer at Boston University Corporate Education.
